- 1 cup fresh lilac blossoms
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup boiling water
- 10 blueberries (optional, for color)
Gather about 6-8 clusters of lilac blossoms. Give the clusters a good shake to remove any debris or bugs.
Pluck the individual purple flowers from the stems, avoiding any green parts. Collect 1 cup of tightly packed flowers.
Boil one cup of water. Combine the boiling water with one cup of sugar in a heatproof container and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Stir the lilac blossoms and the blueberries (if using) into the syrup, cover, and let steep for 4-5 hours.
Strain out the flowers and store the finished syrup in the refrigerator in a clean, covered container such as a mason jar.
